Chelsea Set to Make £65m Move for Liverpool Star Fernando Torres

Chelsea are rumoured to be lining up a record breaking £65m bid for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. Carlo Ancelotti has been given the full backing of Stamford Bridge chairman Roman Abramovich to spend big to bring in the best talent around to help cement the west London club’s position as the Premier League champions. Roy Hodgson’s arrival at the club has been greeted with a muted response from the Anfield playing squad and the Blues may feel that now is the time to attempt to snare the Spaniard.

Yossi Benayoun join Chelsea! Blues close in on £6.5m deal to sign.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he would love to bring Real Madrid star Kaka to Stamford Bridge, but admitted a deal for the former AC Milan player would be almost impossible.
The Brazilian international endured a torrid debut season at the Bernabeu and has subsequently been linked with a move away from the La Liga giants. Although Ancelotti claims he remains very much in contact with his former player, the Chelsea boss all but ruled out a move for the Brazilian playmaker, suggesting the logistics of engineering such a deal would prove its downfall.
The Chelsea boss is quoted by the Daily Mail, saying: “Kaka would do well for my cause and I have spoken with him on a regular basis,”
“But unfortunately he cannot come: firstly Real Madrid don't want to sell him, and secondly we would need a consent over the transfer, and thirdly it would be a multi-million operation.”
“None of these conditions exist.”

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti believes Mario Balotelli would be perfectly suited to the English game.

The Inter Milan striker has been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City.

When asked if the 19-year-old would be a good fit for Sir Alex Ferguson's squad, Ancelotti said to Sky Sport 24: "It's a team that has a great tradition and brings out the characteristics of this type of player."

Balotelli scored nine goals in 26 league appearances for Inter this season but was not a regular starter in the treble-winning side.

Ancelotti says Balotelli could be a more prominent figure in a Premier League side.

He said: "I think so. Here the atmosphere is different.

"I think a player with this type of character would be better suited here than with respect to Italy.

"It's difficult to find a young player with this quality.

"Even England struggles to find a player at this level."

When asked if he would like to coach Balotelli, Ancelotti said: "Yes."

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho looks like he could be on his way out of the club to join Inter Milan, while reports suggest that fellow Portuguese defender Bruno Alves looks set to come in and replace him; however is the Porto defender a needed reinforcement?

Bruno Alves has been somewhat of a late bloomer as despite playing for Porto for his entire career, he didn’t hold down a regular first team spot until 2006. He then received his first call-up to the Portugal squad a year later and has remained a regular. He is very highly regarded in Portugal and the 28-year-old has been in high demand for a while.

Chelsea will need another centreback to replace Carvalho but more than likely as a squad player rather than as a first team regular, as Alex is more than capable of being Chelsea’s first choice alongside John Terry. Carvalho looks to be heading to Inter Milan which would be a great move for himself, and if Chelsea can get a good fee for him then it would be a good bit of business by the Blues considering Carvalho’s age.
